Loki's actually only a tad late. he took his time getting there (the time between rolling his eyes and muttering the spell), before he appears in a flash of bright green light. he doesn't announce his presence, but instead goes to watch the sorcerers and the buildings and the work on the spire itself. Hiro has decided to take everything seriously, hasn't he?
there is, however, a dude in a green jacket asking questions. after a few minutes, he might not be difficult to spot. ]
[Well honestly he wasn't that hard to spot thanks to that bright light, but Hiro's a little busy directing one of the sorcerer's up on the side of the spire with him before he's gesturing to one of the sorcerer's on the ground to lower him via rope. Once he's close enough to the ground though he hops down, not doing anything to hide the very satisfied look on his face.
Yes. He did, in fact, decide to take everything seriously.]
Loki places his hands on his hips and takes a look at those bustling beneath Hiro's attention. he looks a tad surprised, as if he's going to decide whether or not he's impressed. it's barely been two weeks since the battles raged, and Hiro's already got his hands itching to rebuild. well, it was a distraction, at least. something he could do for himself for the time being so he didn't fall down the repeating memories of those days on the battlefield. ]
The spire belongs to Baron Edgar, but Saber sent me out here. [It's a drastic change in his demeanor from the last time he saw Loki. He's no longer sulking or even actively trying to run away. In fact he's practically bouncing in his excitement over the work he's done. Upon further inspection it's pretty clear that he hasn't been getting a lot of sleep and his hair's starting to stick out in even more odd directions than usual, but creation stops for no one. So what if it's still winter? He's got a jacket on over his normal hoodie and he can heat his palms with fire. Problem solved. Soon he's lifting a hand to point to the top of the tower.]
See that break right there? [There's a slight coloration difference near the top that splits the spire into two sections. The newer section looks to be about two or three stories taller.] That's the work we've done in the last couple of days. There's work going on inside the mountain, too. [Reaching into the pocket of his pants he's pulling out a sheet of paper that's been folded and unfolded a lot recently, holding it up to Loki to look at his first rough draft of blueprints. The spire still has another few floors to go and the mountain's interior will have four rooms. Loki doesn't need to know why.
It's mostly a very good distraction and also to help out in the only way he knows he can.] I don't know how long it'll take to finish everything I want to do with it, but it's a start.
[ Loki makes a mental note of the old versus the new where the stone had built upon. he takes careful observation of what's here and there, and how the sorcerers themselves are being put to work. it might be something that he needs later. it's also nice knowing who all the Spire Barons are. (politics got complicated.)
he takes the blueprints from Hiro, intentionally holding them upside-down before making a scene of turning them right-side up to peer properly. the outside of the Spire is easy to figure out, but the interior into the mountain, well ...
he points to the four rooms on the blueprints. sorry, Hiro. ]
I guess. [A shrug. Of course he has been, it's why it's taken him almost a week to get in touch again. He likes keeping busy and Loki will soon come to find that's incredibly true when he has endless amounts of energy.
He's not at all surprised that Loki's honed in on the rooms, but all he responds with is a light smile. Hahaha, no. Absolutely not. Time will tell if Loki ever learns what the labs are for but Hiro's not going to be the one to mention it.]
Extra storage space just to see if I can work underground. It was just an experiment.
[A very, very successful one.] You should see the inside of the spire though. I've been doing a lot of work in there, too.
[ just an "accidental" experiment. Loki doesn't buy it, and there's a moment that flashes over his expression that certain makes it seem like he doesn't buy it at all. ]
You'll need a better lie for that one.
[ it doesn't mean he's not interested, but if he wanted to figure it out for himself, he doesn't necessarily need Hiro to tell him to do so. ]
[An accidental mapped out experiment. He knows Loki doesn't buy it but if he pretends it's nothing, it's nothing.
Until Loki blatantly calls him out on the lie. Hiro shrugs, a faux-innocent look coming into play as he shrugs and allows the subject change.]
To the spire. The inside looks really cool, but it's going to take a lot of work. [And he begins to lead.
Once inside the spire Loki will see how tall it stretches upward and the stairs leading up up and up. There are several rooms on each floor, but at the same time some floors only have one or two. There doesn't appear to be a basic singular pattern and if asked, the new development had a place and a purpose for every room created that Hiro would easily detail.]
I still have a lot to do. I kinda hope Edgar just…lets me work. Hard to say.
[ being the god of mischief and lies meant that he was good at making mischief and lying, and while there were lies and omissions that definitely passed him, he knew the very obvious route of diversion made by a fourteen year old boy. (he remembers being a familiar of a fourteen year old boy, and while said fourteen year old boy was himself, it made it just as easy. but at that time he was more encouraging to his lies than calling them out.)
Loki follows Hiro at a swagger, tucking his hands in his pockets and watching him excitedly point out this and that and generally admiring the architecture while Hiro chatters away. occasionally he leans over to Hiro's height as if he's trying to see something from his point of view, almost to the point of over-exaggeration. he notices the discord in the plans, the occasional two-room versus multiple. ]
The Baron of this Spire. I didn't know you had your doubts to his intent.
[ he sounds a little distracted, but nonetheless curious. ]
[He couldn't lie very well to Tadashi either and he knows that this will (probably) come back to bite him in the ass later but it doesn't matter now. What matters is leading Loki through the spire and occasionally he wants to reach back and bat at his face to get him to stop seemingly mocking him. In the end though they stop on the stairs and Loki's statement causes another pause.]
I don't really know what his intent is. That's kinda the problem. I know what Ariadne does and why she has her spire, but I don't know what Edgar's doing with his.
[Save for the things Saber told him.]
I would like to trust him, but...you know. [Trust is hard.] It's like Billy said. Everybody has their own plans and agendas based on politics. I don't want to be blindsided. Saber and Ariadne are different.
bouncing into a project without knowing the full intent of the one who bore it. it was Saber's request, of course, but that still left them all a little blind. ]
But you believe in Saber's intent.
[ more politics—he was certain Saber was getting something out of that to fulfill her agenda. it was just where those agendas aligned. ]
He hasn't told you anything? You are his architect. You'd think that he would ... ah, at least allow you the details, even if it was under different circumstances.
[ the rush to build because of Caer Scima, he could also understand the implications of it. ]
Yes. [No. Mostly, at least.] I believe it enough because Saber believes in me. She actually asked me to come do this on the first night I got here like...literally right before I met you.
[He's not stupid enough to believe Saber's not getting something out of this...but he's a little stupid enough to believe it won't be that bad.] He told me about the work he's done already and not to mess with the mountain trolls. [Shrug.] I don't think he knows much of Saber's plans either and he's...he's nice, but I'm not sure he really gets everything about the construction.
[It doesn't help that Hiro probably threw in a million terms and examples that most people couldn't keep up with.] I think I'm working for her more than I'm working for him.
